Nicola Moir’s (b.1979) work focuses on the familiar ‘in-between’ spaces, capturing the everyday detail of how we know, move through, and imprint our values on the city. These are the spaces we inhabit between work, home and leisure. They are often the forgotten spaces which are intrinsic to our experience and understanding of the city. They are the spaces where we come together as a community.
Nicola gained a diploma in Drawing and Painting from Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland. She has furthered her understanding of the urban landscape on which her art focuses with a First Class Honours in Geography from the University of Edinburgh and a Distinction in the Built Environment from the University of New South Wales in Sydney. She has exhibited in galleries in Scotland for over ten years and has regularly been accepted to the acclaimed Annual Exhibitions at the Royal Scottish Academy and the Royal Glasgow Institute in Scotland.
Her move to Sydney in 2009 has shifted the focus of her work firmly on the Australian Urban Landscape. She lives and works in Clovelly in Sydney.
